This design is a contemporary passive solar super-insulated home with a long view to green rolling hills to the east. After the active solar is installed this design can approach net zero energy usage (including plug hybrid transportation). The straight-sided living room has exposed beams supporting the sloped roof and enjoys a magnificent view to the east. The porch does likewise. In the future, active solar thermal domestic hot water and space heating panels can be placed on the garage roof and a 6.3kW photovoltaic system on the main roof.
